Absolute hole size
Electroforming produces holes in a ridged structure that does not deform. Hole dimensions can be held to very tight tolerances with little hole to hole variation over the entire surface.
Easy cleaning and efficient cake discharge because of smooth surface
Easier to clean, no interlocking weave to trap and hold material, can be wiped manually or with doctor blade. Unlike woven wire screens, electroformed filters have a flat, smooth surface. The cake cannot easily adhere to the screen resulting in an almost 100% discharge. With little cake residue left on the screen, cleaning is easy. For vertical plate applications the cake falls off by itself.
Custom screen pattern
Shapes for various patterns are producible. No trim waste as with cutting mesh screens to fit size.
Variable hole configuration
Different cross sections for specific, retention and separation. Provide options to types of percent openings for permeability
Conical hole shape (Venturi Holes)
Electrofromed holes have a conical hole shape. With the narrowest part of the hole on the working side of the filter, the screen does not easily clog. This means that the filter can be run longer between cleaning, the cake will be dryer and the filtration more efficient Also efficient backwash with fluid or blow-off air.
Cost comparison
Electroformed screens are somewhat more expensive than conventional wire mesh screens, but due to their superior performance the extra investment is earned back quickly.
